The DrinkHQ Cocktail Mastery Championship isn’t just about who can build the best cocktail — it’s about who can build the best cocktail under a different creative brief every six weeks. Each round of Season 2027–27 challenges our competitors to push their craft in a new direction, from cinematic storytelling to blind-box improvisation, testing not just technical skill but imagination, adaptability, and nerve.
Twelve teams enter. Every round narrows the field. Only one team lifts the trophy at the Championship Final.

Round 1 — Cinematic Cocktails
Monday 21 June 2027
Whether it’s a classic noir or a sci-fi epic, we’re asking our competitors to let their imagination run wild and create a drink that captures the essence of the silver screen. Round 1 opens the championship with pure storytelling — every cocktail on the bar needs to feel like a scene, a character, or a moment worth remembering.
Round 2 — The Science of Cocktails
Monday 2 August 2027
Round 2 goes behind the bar and into the lab. Competitors are challenged to explore the science behind cocktails — acid-base balance, clarification techniques, and flavour pairings most drinkers never think about, but always taste. Precision meets creativity here, and the smallest technical detail can be the difference between good and unforgettable.
Round 3 — The Perfect Pairing

A truly great cocktail doesn’t exist in isolation — it exists in conversation with what’s on the plate beside it. Round 3 asks our teams to create a harmonious culinary experience by pairing a perfectly balanced cocktail with a specific dish or cuisine, considering flavour, texture, and aroma to craft something genuinely unforgettable.
Round 4 — Sweet & Savoury

Balance the unexpected. Round 4 challenges competitors to create a cocktail that harmoniously blends sweet and savoury flavours — pushing the boundaries of taste and proving that the most interesting drinks are often the hardest ones to categorise.
Round 5 — Smoke & Spice
Monday 6 December 2027
Round 5 ignites the senses. Competitors must skilfully balance smoky and spicy elements — chilli peppers, smoked paprika, peated spirits — to create a cocktail that packs a fiery punch without losing its composure. This is the round where restraint matters just as much as boldness.
Round 6 — Around the World
Monday 17 January 2028
Every great cocktail tells you where it’s from. Round 6 sends our competitors on a global flavour journey, tasking them with creating a cocktail inspired by a specific country or region — capturing its unique spirit and ingredients while still finding room for an innovative twist. Authentic representation is non-negotiable here.
Round 7 — The Art of Garnish
Monday 28 February 2028
A cocktail is tasted first with the eyes. Round 7 transforms the humble garnish into the main event, challenging competitors to elevate their creations through extraordinary presentation — from edible art to unexpected textures. This is the round where the finishing touch becomes the whole story.
Round 8 — Mystery Box
Monday 10 April 2028
The ultimate test of a true mixologist. In our series finale, competitors have a limited amount of time to create a stunning cocktail using a mystery box of surprise ingredients. Adaptability, creativity, and quick thinking are everything in this high-stakes, unscripted final round of the regular season.
Why themed rounds?
The DrinkHQ Cocktail Mastery Championship features a unique format built around themed rounds specifically to challenge competitors in every dimension of mixology — not just technical execution, but creativity, adaptability, and storytelling.
Each round presents a specific theme or constraint, requiring competitors to demonstrate a different facet of their craft. By the time Season 2027–27 reaches its final round, every team still standing has proven they can do more than make a good drink — they’ve proven they can innovate under pressure, again and again.
This format keeps the championship fresh for competitors and spectators alike, and allows teams to evolve their strategy and skill as the season progresses. The crowning achievement is the season title itself — a title the winning team will have the chance to defend the following year, giving DrinkHQ’s championship a sense of legacy and ongoing narrative that a single-night competition never could.
It’s an approach that doesn’t just celebrate the art of cocktail creation — it builds a community of passionate mixologists and enthusiasts that grows stronger with every season.
